Cosmelan Treatment works in 2 Stages

First Stage is the Preparation stage:-

  • 2. You will need to prep the skin 4 weeks in advance before cosmelan peel.
  • 3. This is a pre-peel to ensure the skin is ready for the cosmelan peel and to minimise adverse reactions and achieve the desired outcome.

Second Stage – Consist of 4 Phases (Goes for 4 to 6 months):-

  • # Phase 1- We apply the Cosmelan® peel in clinic. You leave it on for 8-12 hours and it is removed at home with water.
  • # Phase 2- Using after care products at home and having an in-clinic session using LED & Age Element Brightening Booster Treatment.
  • # Phase 3- Using after care products at home / ongoing in clinic LED treatments.
  • # Phase 4- Reappearance of pigment control with home care products.

    What is Cosmelan?
    The Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is a breakthrough treatment that utilises a 2-fold approach to eliminate dark patches caused by melanin deposits. The treatment inhibits the enzyme called tyrosinase which is responsible for forming melanin pigment in the skin. It contains substances that stop this enzyme from creating by altering the metabolic process of melanin transformation.
    Who can use Cosmelan?
    The Cosmelan peel is compatible with all skin types which is skin type I-VI covering the lightest to darkest colours and can be used all year round because of its very high safety margin.
    What is involved when using the Cosmelan Peel?
    All clients need to prep the skin for 4 weeks with home care products and one in clinic professional treatment.
    This is followed by one cosmelan treatment at the clinic.
    Multiple LED and professional treatments are done in clinic.
    Clients Use Cosmelan Post home care products for min 6 months .
    What can I expect during the procedure?
    The Cosmelan depigmentation treatment is executed in 2 Phases
    First consists of the application of Cosmelan I, a mask on face at clinic which you go home with and keep it on from 8 to 12 hours, depending on your skin type as advised by your skin therapist. The mask is washed off with water.The second treatment phase consists of daily application of a maintenance cream called Cosmelan 2, containing botanical acids that support the depigmentation achieved. Initially after the procedure, you may experience different sensations, varying from warm flushing and inflammation to slight itching and tightness of the skin. To maintain satisfactory results a strict homecare guideline of products must be always followed.
    What are the Cosmelan Contradictions?
    • Pregnancy or breast feeding
    • React Sunburn
    • Allergies to any of the components of the formulation
    • Treatment with isotretinoin (Roaccutane) in the past 6 months
    • Hydroquinone use in the past 3 months on the face
    • Active bacterial, viral, fungal or herpes infection
    • Autoimmune disease and / or chronic imbalances affecting the skin
    • Recent chemotherapy and / or radiotherapy (clearance letter from your Dr will be required)
    • Recent skin surgery
    • History of keloids or hypertrophic scarring
    • Open or partly open wound
    Can any skin type be treated?
    The unique active ingredients used in the Cosmelan depigmenting mask and cream enable effective treatment and results on all skin colours and ethnicities. The clinical mask is required to activate for 6 hours on fairer complexions, 8 hours for olive and up to 10 hours for darker complexions
    Are there any side effects to having a Cosmelan treatment?
    Side effects occurs with Cosmelan treatments are minimum but in the event of an occurrence this can be easily managed.
    Clients can experience mild to moderate redness with slight swelling following the removal of the in-clinic mask.
    During the post treatment period it is common for the skin to feel tight or itchy. In your homecare you get a nourishing moisturiser such as Hydra-Vital Factor K. It is recommended to avoid direct sun exposure following a Cosmelan treatment and to wear a broad-spectrum SPF30 every day before, and after in clinic treatment .
